Cisely Martin- Breeden is a Social Worker by degree, but has always had a passion for theatre long before graduating from Arts High School in Newark where she worked under the tutelage of Ms. Bashir. Although her focus was on vocal performance, she often sang in theatre productions. Cisely was an active member the Drama Company at Essex County College where she studied musical theatre. She also had the honor of playing Dorothy in their rendition of the Wiz. While at Kean University she studied Theatre Performance and Theater Technology. Afterwards, she worked for Newark Public Schools for over 7 years as a Student Assistance Coordinator. Cisely has a strong passion for using Educational Theatre to encourage student’s positive behavior. In 2011, life changing events allowed her to take a leap of faith and start her own production company, LeapNhigh Productions.

Flisadam Pointer is a proud alumna of Rutgers University – New Brunswick’s School of Communication and Information for both her bachelor’s and is currently enrolled in their graduate studies program to pursue her master’s degree in digital media. After working her way up from an intern, Flisadam is grateful to work as the digital marketing associate at Newark Symphony Hall. She also does freelance digital marketing consulting. In 2015, Flisadam launched a digital news platform for unsigned entertainment, Envert Entertainment (www.envertentertainment.com) to promote music, live performances and more.

Services provided by NSH: Newark Symphony Hall Children’s Arts Academy provides sessions in summer, fall, and spring. Summer Children’s Performing Arts Academy is a 5 weeks intensive program that includes instruction in vocal music; dance; and drama for students ages 8-13, though the program is not without regard to previous experience we have had the pleasure of working with some extremely talented children. During our summer session we offer a free before care service for parents. While our programs tuition is extremely reasonable scholarships remain available for those families in need who qualify. Students have the pleasure of attending trips that are also art focused to further their awareness of various art forms. We provide discipline-specific classes at the Academy instructed by accomplished Teaching Artists.
Overview of NSH: The Newark Performing Arts Corporation was established in 1988 to manage Newark Symphony Hall, an historic 87 year old performing arts complex that is owned by the City of Newark. The Corporation is led by Executive Director Leon Denmark who was appointed in March 2013. Formerly the Vice President for Programming at NJPAC, Denmark supervised an annual program that featured major symphony orchestras, classical, modern, and ethnic dance companies, major jazz artists, recitalists, cabaret performers, family programming and pop artists. He is charged with revitalizing the task of revitalizing the landmark venue of Newark Symphony Hall during is first role as Executive Director of Newark Symphony Hall in 1989.
What makes NSH unique and necessary?: “The Children’s Performing Arts Academy focuses on an intensive acting/drama, contemporary dance, and vocal music experience. It offers the participants a chance to indulge in the pursuit of knowledge in the performing arts with complete concentration and purpose. Students have the guidance of professional artists and educators who will help develop their artistic talent, personal discipline, and the tools of their crafts.
The academy is both fun and challenging for the students. They grow as creative human beings and are challenged to become more adept at working within a community.”
