Margaret El

VP of Visual Arts/PE

Margaret El is Special Assistant for the Arts Office of Curriculum for Newark Public Schools with tremendous education experience. She was previously Vice Principal of her alma mater Arts High School, serving students in grades 7-12. In September 2015 her duties expanded from supervision of the visual arts program and included the performing and media arts departments. During the 2010/2011 academic year she implemented a middle school program into the Arts High School structure, providing an opportunity for students in grades 7-8 from across the city to have earlier consistent exposure to arts programming. Ms. El previously worked as a classroom art teacher at both Arts and Weequahic high schools. A Newark resident, Ms. El is a member of: the Essex County Arts and Cultural Advisory Board; Unified Vailsburg Services Organization board; a Leadership Newark fellow; and has served as a Chairman and Commissioner to the Newark Zoning Board of Adjustments for twenty years.
